Body Mind Centering - The Institute for Integrative Bodywork & Movement Therapy has been offering training programmes based on the principles of Body-Mind Centering ®, Body Mind Centering and Somatic Psychology in England and Germany since 1990. The current programme offers flexibility for those wishing to integrate into their practice new approaches to somatic movement therapy, bodywork, and body-mind awareness.

Workshops Programme:

Authentic Movement—awakening the wisdom of the body - Authentic Movement is a contemplative discipline which involves a mover, or a group of movers, and a witness who seek, through a shared practice, to uncover a place of inner clarity and non-judgemental acceptance. The witness ‘holds' the space into which the mover goes, with eyes closed; the witness's embodied presence enables the mover to surrender to sensations, feelings and images, the mover expresses his/her direct experience of the moment through movement and stillness. Memories, dream images, archetypal energies, song, laughter, tears, and healing moments may be evoked and find expression as the body, in its wisdom, tells the story needing to be told. As both mover and witness seek to become present to their direct experience, clarity within their relationship to self and other grows. In these workshops the focus will be on your own movement process, and the art of witnessing another will also be introduced.

Embodying Self through Touch and Movement - The developmental process unfolds through a series of movement patterns which lead us from our ‘being' to our ‘doing' nature: from bonding to earth and mother, to establishing a sense of self, to reaching out in play, creative action and relationship. The natural unfolding of the developmental patterns underlies all areas of future learning in the infant, child and adult - movement, perceptual, psychological, intellectual and spiritual growth are all profoundly influenced and supported by these early movement experiences. Embodying the developmental process through focused exercises and movement improvisations can help us to clarify and strengthen the foundations of our movement, and free energy for creative expression.
